About Brisbane Tyres

We publish long, useful articles about the rubber under Queensland vehicles. The site began in 2007 as a small information journal. The job has not changed.

The first line on the old homepage was “Tyres are a boon to everyone.” It was true then and it is true now. Without a decent set of tyres, the long drive to the coast, the school run through the inner south, and the Saturday ride out past Ipswich all turn into a negotiation with the road. Brisbane Tyres exists so that negotiation is informed.

We are not a tyre shop. We do not hold stock, we do not take a booking, and we do not pretend a sponsored paragraph is a road test. The original site pointed readers toward car tyres, motorcycle tyres, tyre suppliers and cheap tyres. Those four doors are still the ones we open first. Around them we have built hubs on care and safety, Queensland roads and history and brands.

What we publish

Sidewall literacy. Wet-weather behaviour on the Riverside Expressway. How a cheap Chinese-made passenger tyre can still meet Australian standards and still be the wrong tyre for a towing Hilux. How to talk to a fitter on Beaudesert Road without getting bounced into a size you do not need. The history of vulcanisation, Dunlop, Thomson and the Michelin radial, because the old site was right to start there.

Every article is written in Australian English, for Australian conditions. We use kilometres, kilopascals and the ADR language you will actually see on a sidewall. When we mention a brand it is because the brand is part of the market, not because a publicist asked.

Who we write for

Brisbane commuters, Gold Coast weekenders, motorcycle riders who still take the Cunningham, fleet managers who are tired of premature shoulder wear, and anyone who has stood in a fitting bay listening to a quote they cannot decode. If that is you, start with the article archive or write to the desk.

Corrections, pitches and sponsorship queries go through the contact form. Guest work is welcome if it meets the write-for-us guidelines and the editorial standards. Images on this site are Creative Commons or public domain and are listed on the credits page.
